The term public art properly refers to works of art in any media that has been planned and executed with the specific intention of being sited or staged in the public domain, usually outside and accessible to all. The term is especially significant within the art world, amongst curators, commissioning bodies and practitioners of public art, to whom it signifies a particular working practice, often with implications of site specificity, community involvement and collaboration.
Brad Downey was born 1980 in Louisville, Kentucky (USA)

A Fathers Duty, 2003
London, England
3 days (father), 2 weeks & 6 days (children)
Metal, paint, street sign
The father tried to get his children for 3 days, but eventually was taken away by city workers. The children were left to fend for themselves for 2 weeks and 6 days, but they were never able to escape from their prison. After 7 days someone wrote in black marker, on the white triangle. “Put it up higher next time Wanker.” If I had put it higher these children would have been even further from safety.
The fathers silhouette is based on Darius Jones, he always wears a hat.
